WML11 and packet loss at level 25%

Hello to everybody!

I've got following setup:

	router1 <---> router_ap <---> router2
			 ^

|
|
router3

To each router there is a LAN with aproximately 60 user connected. Routers 1,2,3 they are IBM 300GL with Celeron processor, 64MB RAM, and one Linksys WML11 PCI installed in it (firmware versions: PRI: 1.0.5, STA: 1.3.4). Router_ap it's a Asus board based PC, AMD Duron 800MHz processor, 348MB RAM. It has 2 Linksys WML11 (firmware versions as above), and 2 3Com cards installed.

Each router is a kernel 2.4.19, with grsec 1.9.4, serial console support enabled. And here the real problems begins :) Routers 1,2,3 have hostap 2002-09-12 installed, and router_ap has 2002-05-09 installed.

  1. router_ap is unable to work with newset hostap (2002-09-12). It's able to work aproximately 4 to 6 hours with it - then it hangs. The funny thing is, that the only clue what's going on I've got from it was some garbage in logs (arounf 1KB od escape characters). The host was completly dead - hard reboot was needed. When it's working with previous version of hostap (2002-05-19) there are no such problems.
  2. I have very big packet loss ratio - around 25%. I think it's due to strange connection/disconnection sequences that I see in logs on routers 1,2,3 - ie. that log from router1:

Sep 29 12:31:22 rtr-1 kernel: wlan0: LinkStatus: BSSID=00:06:25:a7:a8:62

etc. etc. etc. - it happens approximately twice per minute, sometimes even more often. Sometimes it ends in association problems - in logs I see "LinkStatus ... (Association Failed)", and BSSID=44:44:44:44:44:44, and there is noting I can do (despite hard reset) to regain communication with router_ap :(

Any suggestions what could be wrong? Is it router_ap problem? Or firmware problem? I'd be greatful for any help...
