Can hostap be set with different MOde

HI ,

    I am testing MObile mesh code . I have connected four AP's to test it . Now is it necessary for me to set the mode for all AP's as MASTER or should I set one as master and other as managed .

In my case what is happening is if I set all AP's mode as Master then it is not working where as if I set one AP as Master and the others as Managed then it works fine .

Please let me know the correct mode setting .
