RE: Bridging when in Managed mode

Well, it would make some sense. The scenario is that I'm connected to a linux box with the wlan0 interface and then I would like to link to a remote commercial AP. I read somewhere that there were firmware problems in the prism2 chip that prevented it to setup WDS with commercial APS, so the linux box in AP mode never would work

It would make sense, if you for instance would like to build a wireless hub with WLAN as backbone to ethernet. But still, a WLAN card in "Managed" mode can't be bridged. An alternative is to use WDS links (which require a HostAP based AP). Jouni has also implemented a "Repeter" mode with standard compliant WDS frames that you might be able to use together with at least some other brands' AP's.
