I see no need for an explicit stable/development branch, as your support on the mailing list is incredible good.

But for new users, this knowledge should be on the website.

So i suggest: everyone, please also post positive experience, which version you recommend for stability. and then someone could update the webpage. this should be enough.

btw, the sniff/ directory of todays version failed to compile for me:
