Alright, I compiled the latest release version, installed it, loaded it, same problem. I issued iwpriv wlan0 reset 2, trying to reset the card manually. Same problem. I started the card with the linux-wlan-ng drivers and it works in IBSS mode, so the card is not dead.

I'm kind of at a loss now.

I guess I'll recompile the kernel, then hostap, then try again?
