Hi there,

first, a little background

I have been using linux-wlan-ng's AP mode and I want to switch to hostap since i have problem with it if I upgrade my client wlan card's firmware from 8c3 to something higher. e.g. 134, 136. the client connection will break after some time. maybe few minutes, many few hours. seems it has nothing to do with big file transfer. but other cards in the wlan are unaffected. seems it has something to do with windows xp. 3com/melco card which has XP support natively have the same problem.

back to the topic, I'm new to this driver and I compiled and installed the latest version today, which is 2002-05-19
I am using a plx card http://www.corega.co.jp/product/list/wireless/wlpcia11.htm this is a NDC OEM
running linux 2.4.18, running redhat 7.3, i have a eth0 for local lan, eth1 for pppoe, ppp0 for internet and wlan0 for hostap. local lan is 192.168.0.1, wlan0 is 192.168.1.1, running dhcp server for both network. i have many different client card
the firmware version of this plx card is unknown. it should be something very old, even without 128bit wep support. (7xx?) how can I get the version no?

with a net gear 136 firmware card in my XP, my linux AP die as soon as I start a file transfter (samba or ftp) from my server. the server freeze without any message in the console.

seems my computer hang after a few card reset

and now I am using a no brander wlan card with 8c3 firmware, and GBs of files are copied, still alive.

any hints? will upgrading the firmware in the wlan card of linux AP help? how can i do it...
