I have 2 Netgear MA401 cards (using them in a MA301 PLX Adapter). One had firmware 1.3.4 (and was found by OpenBSD using manid as an Intersil reference card) and the other was newer with firmware 1.3.6.

I had nothing but transmit errors. So I took the older card, flashed it to firmware 0.8.3, and now it seems to work flawlessly with hostAP. So newer firmwares might pose a problem.

I have two of these. The newer firmware causes both my cards to not function in Linux. Yet both works flawlessly in Ad-Hoc mode under Windows.
