BTW, the Linksys WPC11 v3 (which I suppose is Prism3) mentions "Hardware Buffer Chaining Provides High Performance While Reading And Writing Buffers" in the wpc11v3ug.pdf document available at linksys.com. Maybe there's hope even for lower cpu load in hostap_cs.
