HostAP driver as client in Lucent-based networks?

If there is anyone out there successfully using the HostAP driver in a client card to talk to Lucent-family APs, I'd sure be obliged to engage in a little off-list note-sharing.

I posted a message on this topic earlier in the week but no one responded. I am trying to integrate machines running the HostAP driver into my existing wireless network, and I'm finding severe performance problems when the HostAP box is running in client mode.

The reverse, at least on first testing, doesn't seem to be a problem: my Lucent cards associate just fine to the HostAP acting as an AP.

I would appreciate any perspectives on this topic that might be out there.
