Hello!

I'm trying to set up a linux box, with the DWL-650 pci+pcmcia installed, as an AP Host for a laptop, running Win98, with the DWL-650 installed.

Here's my dmesg when I start pcmcia:

Intel ISA/PCI/CardBus PCIC probe:

prism2_open

no errors, I would say, and the card appears beautifully in cardinfo, pinging wlan0's address, 192.168.0.1, gives me response, etc

on the other hand, the laptop, set up in infrastructure mode, doesn't see the station

moreover, experimenting with the modes, when setting the laptop in 802.11 AdHoc mode, regardless whether the linux box is in AP Host or adhoc mode, I get some handshake: the laptop reports "Associated" and give me some BSSID (granted, a funny thing happens: this ID changes! is it normal?); on the other hand, pinging doesn't go either way.

One more thing: firmware on both pcmcia cards appears to be 1.3.4 (I saw many people talk about 0.8.3 ... as latest driver!) is this OK?

Also, I'm using latest pcmcia-cs package, I'm runnning Debian (testing dist) on my linux box, and the kernel, as far as I can tell, is correctly configured. And have the latest wireless-tools installed ...

Help would be VERY much appreciated - I spent quite some time trying to set them up, and success is still far away :)

Thanks!!
Cosmin
