HostAP w/RH8.0 compile errors

Has anyone experienced problems compiling hostap against the redhat kernel coming with RH8.0?

what i did in the past is this:
edit the Makefile in the kernel-source and removed the "custom" make menuconfig, exit and save
make dep
in the hostap tree
edit the makefile and point it to /usr/src/linux-2.4 make pccard
make install pccard
and this worked great in RH7.3

in rh8.0 i get:
gcc -I/usr/src/linux-2.4/include -include driver/modules/hostap_crypt.ver

-include driver/modules/hostap.ver -O2 -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE -Wall -c
-DMODVERSIONS -include /usr/src/linux-2.4/include/linux/modversions.h
-fomit-frame-pointer -o driver/modules/hostap_cs.o
driver/modules/hostap_cs.c

<snip, as this goes on for quite a bit for this and socket.h, kernel.h and many others>
