Looking for help here. My freshly installed Linksys WMP11 card being driven with the HostAP driver does not come up in 802.11b mode and does not respond to a iwconfig rate set:

[root_at_dawg modules]# iwconfig wlan0

  wlan0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"www.personaltelco.net" Nickname:"patch"
            Mode:Master Frequency:2.422GHz Access Point: 00:06:25:A7:22:8E
            Bit Rate=2Mb/s Tx-Power:-7 dBm Sensitivity=1/3
            Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
            Encryption key:off
            Power Management:off
            Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
            Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

[root_at_dawg modules]# iwconfig wlan0 rate 11M
[root_at_dawg modules]# iwconfig wlan0

  wlan0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"www.personaltelco.net" Nickname:"patch"
            Mode:Master Frequency:2.422GHz Access Point: 00:06:25:A7:22:8E
            Bit Rate=2Mb/s Tx-Power:-7 dBm Sensitivity=1/3
            Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
            Encryption key:off
            Power Management:off
            Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
            Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I'm not finding mention of this in the source configuration - other than a case statement which sets the string.

So what am I missing in getting this driver/card combination set up to do 11Mb/s?

Other than this issue the compilation and installation was nearly effortless.
